💊 What should I do if I get sick or have an emergency?

💊 I’m a new student and don’t have National Health Insurance (NHI) yet. What if I get sick?

Don’t worry! You are covered from day one.

Before you complete the 6-month residency requirement to qualify for National Health Insurance(NHI), the university has already enrolled you in a Medical Insurance Plan for International/Overseas Chinese Students (currently provided by Cathay Life Insurance) to cover your medical needs.

Medical Visit and Reimbursement Process (How to Claim)

This insurance operates on a “Pay First, Claim Later” basis. Please follow these steps:

Step Description
1 Visit the Doctor Pay all your medical expenses out-of-pocket at the clinic or hospital first.
2 Collect Documents Before leaving, you must request the following:

  • Diagnosis Certificate (醫生診斷證明書)
  • Original Medical Receipts (醫療收據正本)
3 Submit Your Claim Bring the documents above +  your ARC (photocopy) + your Bank/Post Office Passbook (photocopy) to the Office of International Affairs (Room L104) to fill out the claim form.

4 Coverage Limits Outpatient/Emergency Care: Reimbursement is based on the receipt amount.
⚠️ Note: Maximum coverage is NT$1,000 per visit.Hospitalization:
◆ Ward Fees(病房費): Up to NT$1,000 per day.
Miscellaneous Medical Expense(醫療雜費): Up to NT$120,000 per stay (includes surgery, medication, X-rays, lab tests, etc.).
