1. New international and overseas Chinese students must apply for their ARC within 30 days of entering Taiwan. Failure to do so will result in a fine ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$50,000.
2. If you change your residential address, you must provide the required documents to update your records within 30 days. Violators will be fined between NT$2,000 and NT$10,000.
3. You must apply for an ARC extension within 30 days prior to its expiration. If your ARC has expired but the overstay is less than 30 days, you will be penalized under Article 85, Item 4 of the Immigration Act.
If your original reason for residency (i.e., being a student) still exists, you may re-apply for residency after paying the fine.
If the overstay exceeds 30 days, you will not only be fined but must also leave Taiwan. You will then need to re-apply for a new Resident Visa to re-enter the country and apply for a new ARC within 15 days of your return.
